Printable version Robina Hooper, 22, job trainer at Mencap from Shrewsbury Robina is a lively young woman who knows her own mind. Describing herself as single and desperate, she’s had enough of the Shrewsbury dating scene and is keen to get away. She also says she’s prone to hissy fits and anything can set one off — from someone asking her to do the washing up, to people speaking to her in a tone she finds annoying. Her loud voice gets her in trouble as do her indiscrete comments and even her mum tells her to quieten down. She describes herself as having both socialist and right wing views, which is maybe because she likes to play devil’s advocate. She admits she has led a charmed life and no one has ever really said no to her so she’s used to getting her own way. Robina is a no nonsense woman who likes to have fun and wants to get in there and shake the other castaways up, stop them dithering and kick them into action. Known as Beanie to friends and family, Robina currently works as a job trainer for Mencap. Although she likes her job she says she lives for the weekend.

Torbay NHS Trust This Serious Case Review was commissioned to consider historical safeguarding adults concerns dating back to regarding the possible abuse of residents in a nursing home. The Review looked at the evidence for alleged poor or abusive practice. Records were found to be incomplete, with inconsistencies between records held by different agencies of safeguarding activity, which made it difficult to gain a full picture of the concerns, action taken and outcomes.
The concerns led to 21 safeguarding strategy meetings and the majority of these were followed by one or more case conferences. On four occasions the concerns raised were substantiated but further action was taken in only two cases. It was not possible to be certain about whether any abuse was suffered by residents of the nursing home during the review period, or about the standard of care or management of the home at that time.
Investigation of these matters at the time was inconclusive and subsequent enquiries have been similarly inconclusive. However, during the review period there were persistent and significant concerns that residents may have been subject to abuse, evidenced by the number of complaints and safeguarding alerts made by residents, relatives, staff and visiting professionals and the associated safeguarding activity.

The first person identified with their name was one Robert De Haverington, the son of Osulphus or Oswulf whose manor was Flemingby.

Expand We all like to feel safe and secure, especially in and around our own homes. Whether we live alone or with a partner, friends or family, keeping safe is something we all need to think about but sometimes take for granted. Inside your home Try and look at your home through the eyes of a burglar. What can you see that would encourage or discourage someone from breaking in? Remember, half of all burglaries happen on the spur of the moment through unlocked doors or windows. Safety lights that are triggered by movement can be useful burglar deterrents.
Try not to leave keys in a place where they can be seen from outside your home. Avoid attaching your name or address to keys. Callers at the door Intercom systems, spy holes, door chains and outside lighting can all help to safely identify callers. If you have them, make sure you use them.
